With compassion, pet euthanasia offers a tender farewell, bringing relief from pain and discomfort.
Euthanasia is performed when the quality of life of your pet is limited from an illness or injury. It is a peaceful way to cross over the Rainbow Bridge.
Euthanasia is a humane way to allow our pets to pass away without suffering. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AAHA) explains the following;
“If your pet can no longer experience the things he/she once enjoyed, cannot respond to you in his or her usual ways, or appears to be experiencing more pain than pleasure, you may need to consider euthanasia. Likewise, if your pet is terminally ill or critically injured, or if the financial or emotional cost of treatment is beyond your means, euthanasia may be a valid option. Sometimes asking yourself the question, “Does my pet have more bad days than good days?” can help you make the decision.”
Please feel free to phone the clinic for specific details on availability for home euthanasia.
Cats can become stressed when in the hospital and sensing their owners’ despair. For that reason, we often provide mild initial intramuscular sedation before manipulating the elderly or ill patient. Once this takes effect, we place an intravenous catheter. The humane euthanasia is then performed by the administration of a highly concentrated, and very closely regulated, anesthetic agent into the catheter. Your pet will peacefully fall asleep and shortly after will pass away. We will discuss the entire procedure ahead of time, so you know what to expect.
